When I hear that Generative AI will solve all the world’s problems, I can’t help but 🤭.

Those who so confidently claim that, haven’t seen what a real infrastructure of a larger company looks like;

- Patching or fixing IT systems with quick fix solutions — a.ka “Digital Duck Tape”, instead of addressing the underlying issues. Of course people know it’s not sustainable or efficient in the long term, but there is always “a more burning problem” that needs to be addressed right, NOW.

- Many orgs continue to use outdated software. Someone in the 90’s wrote a code in a language that nobody is using anymore, so everybody is scared of touching it as it may break. Hello security vulnerabilities and compatibility issues, not mentioning about killing your people’s productivity and efficiency.
- We have been a huge advocate of NLP and LLMs (basically what ChatGPT is build with and what we build Untrite tools with) years now as it’s been producing pretty great results for long. What OpenAI guys brilliantly did with ChatGPT was to package it in a simple, user friendly layout. Boom, finally people get it.

- Manual data entry and paper-based processes — my favourite. In an era of automation and digital transformation, there is still LOTS OF companies relying heavily on inefficient and prone to errors manual data entry.
In Japan, fax machines are still widely accepted, and oftentimes, burreucratic processes create a ridicule situations and waste of time and natural resources. Bah, there are even very profitable companies that scan your faxed papers and send them via email. How smart is that?

- The love and reliance of Excel for critical processes. I can’t tell you (literally can’t due to NDA 🤐) how many times I’ve seen how really respected, large companies stored some of the most critical business processes on spreadsheets!

- Data silos and system fragmentation: Using disparate and disconnected software systems that don’t communicate or share data with each other leads to data duplication, inefficiencies, and difficulties in accessing accurate and up-to-date information.

ChatGPT can’t and most likely won’t help you with that. Sure, you can do the API integrations to serve your narrow use cases (like Zalando or InstaCart did), but it won’t solve you the biggest problem you have — lack of data transparency and overall picture what the heck is happening in your organisation.
That’s what we do at Untrite. We may much smaller player tackling a huge problem, but we understand it very well.

Those people who are such blind advocate for GenAI don’t realise that tech is never a problem. It’s always people’s resistance to change. They do it only, when they’re forced to due to losing $$$.

So go on, run your company proprietary confidential data through potential monopoly engine that learns on fed data, good luck with that :) Ask Samsung guys how did it go for them :) (link in comments)
